The module has now created two new pages in your website structure: "google-sitemap" and the subpage "edit".
- google-sitemap:
- The sitemap which will be linked in google.
- edit:
- Here you can define which pages of your website are to be displayed in the sitemap.
As the module creates these two pages in Author and Public instance, we recommend you deactivate the page "edit" as it is not needed in the public instance.
Managing the sitemap
To manage your sitemap, open the page "edit". You will find two lists there:
- Virtual URI Mappings
- Website
To edit the properties of individual pages, click the button to the right of each entry.
Registering your sitemap in google
In order to publish the properties of the pages you have to activate them. Do the same for changes in the Virtual URI Mappings.
After this, activate the page "google-sitemap".
Now you can register / log in to the google Webmaster Central.
Read here: and article by Boris Kraft, CTO of Magnolia on google Webmaster Central, on how to register and publish your sitemap.
In google Webmaster Central, on the left side, you will find the entry "Sitemaps". You can register your sitemap here. For this, provide the URL of your website and the name of your sitemap:
